INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown poses major challenges to researchers,
especially for those conducting qualitative studies on mental health. Physical face-to-face
research interviews would have helped researchers carry out more accurate screening,
including e.g.; capturing participants’ emotions and non-verbal cues. Unfortunately, face-to-
face research interviews appear impossible during lockdown. Instead, online digital platforms
need to be used as an alternative during these challenging periods. This study aims to share
researchers’ experiences (challenges and opportunities) during online video in-depth
interview (IDI)s among school children (aged between 10 to 16 years; study and residing in
Selangor) throughout school closure due to the pandemic.
METHODS: The IDIs were conducted between January 2021 and Mac 2022. Each session used
a free version of Google Meet and was recorded via a free version of online video technology
(VIMEO), as well as a physical-digital voice recorder (audio) and lasted between 45 to 60
minutes.
RESULTS: Researchers discovered out there are challenges (feasibility and quality of online
video interviews, building rapport with interviewees, limitation in capturing participants’
emotions and non-verbal cues) and opportunities (travel and accommodation cost savings
and newly added knowledge in handling IDI) while carrying out online video data collection.
DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION: Our experiences suggest that building early rapport before the
actual date of IDI may enhance interviewees' willingness to engage while the feasibility and
quality of online video interviews depend on the experience of the research team and
informants in using technology and may involve additional cost particularly in ensuring
adequate internet coverage, stability and hardware at both ends.

The purpose of this paper is to look into how Lotka's law applies to the Journal of the
Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, which is indexed in the SCOPUS Citation Index
of Journal Citation Report from 2009 to 2021.The scopus authors’ ID was used to determine
the number of author(s) of the paper(s). The study found 183 documents, written by 140
authors. The names of 111 authors appeared once in the dataset. The parameters of the
Lotka's law model, α and C, were obtained using the linear least squares approach. The study
found that the α value of 2.6291 and the C value of 0.77167. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test
was used to measure the kindness of adjustment of the findings to the Lotka distribution. The
study found that Lotka's law was compatible with the Jambras article publication pattern.
