Thestandard is set at %u226550% based on expert%u2019s opinions.PROCESS OF GATHERING INFORMATION:This one-year project consists of phase 1 (data verification), involving a cross-sectional study done inJune 2022 with data recorded retrospectively. Thirty oral health professionals and sixty parents/caregiverswere randomly selected and required data extracted from Giret 2.0 and LP8. Phase 2 of problem analysisstudy and implementation of remedial measures was carried out from September 2022 to January 2023.Questionnaires distributed through convenient sampling to gauge data in socioeconomic, knowledge andattitudes. Phase 3 of evaluation study done in February 2023 by distributing questionnaires again torespondents in order to re-evaluate their knowledge and attitudes on importance of preventive dental carein their special needs children.ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION:Handling difficult patients, e.g. aggressive (30%), uncooperative (70%) and dental fear (23%). While, noconsent (78%), difficult procedure to carry out due to behavioural problems (34%), poor communication(36%), time constraints (23%) and no KPI/standard to achieve (90%).STRATEGIES FOR CHANGE:Monthly visit to CBRC, playing music during dental procedure, Tell-Show-Do, interactive games, smallgroup oral health education, counselling, Continuous Dental Education (CDE), refresher course,rescheduling workloads and established standard and monitored under District Specific Approach.EFFECT OF CHANGE:The post-remedial study improved from 18.2% in 2022 to 68.5% in 2023 (standard was set at 50%) within12 months which is exceeding the standard set.THE NEXT STEP:This program method will be expanded to other selected CBRC in Terengganu by establishing a dedicatedteam called %u2018Dental Care Crew%u2019, oral health campaigns involving dental buskers and to collaborate withother healthcare provider in future events.194 | Page
