FVapplication recommended to be offered at least six-month intervals over two years (four-time).Unfortunately, in Hulu Langat district, only 9% of patients completed a four- time FV application in 2019.KEY MEASURES FOR IMPROVEMENT:The key indicator for improvement was measured using the percentage of patients who completed fourtime FV application and the standard is 40% based on standard in Plan of Action (POA), SelangorPROCESS OF GATHERING INFORMATION:A cross-sectional study was conducted from August to September 2020 in 11 Dental clinics in HuluLangat district using self-administered questionnaires and distributed through a google form. A total of 39(92.8%) out of 42 dental therapists and dental officers participated in this survey.ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION:Pre-remedial study showed only 9% of patients completed four-time FV application. The maincontributing factors identified were no proper recording systems and identification, no specificappointment date given, no proper monitoring systems, and lack of attractive promotional materials.STRATEGIES FOR CHANGE:The strategies were establishments with color-coded filing system, educational appointment card, monitoring forms and reminder call, Kiddy Smile box for promotional activities and CDE sessions forMCH personnel periodically.EFFECT OF CHANGE:The percentage was increased from 9% to 66% in cycle 1 and 57% in cycle 2. Achievable Benefit NotAchieved (ABNA) was improved from 31% to -26% and to -17% accordingly. We successfully improvedthe percentage of patients who completed four-time FV applications in Hulu Langat district.THE NEXT STEP:This project was replicated in Sepang district, Selangor in 2023 and showed an excellent result from5.63% to 40.24% increment after the Kiddy Smile project was implemented. We plan to sustain theachievement by expanding this project to all dental clinics in Selangor.192 | Page
