           means that it is wasteful to conduct a research study by


           using a questionnaire that has merely been translated into


           a different language but has not yet been properly

           validated    because    the   responses     elicited   from    the


           respondents will not be valid, which have arisen from the


           fact that the translated version of the questionnaire has

           not undergone the proper validation process.






           1.1 Why validation of an existing questionnaire is of a

           higher priority than the original development of a


           new questionnaire?


                  Researchers may be interested in comparing their

           findings across different ethnic groups or countries. Say,


           for example, a study aims to compare the quality of life


           among kidney failure patients across different countries.
