Page 155 - A Step-By-Step Guide to Questionnaire Validation Research
P. 155
In summary, it is not recommended to conduct a
validation study for a questionnaire which does not have a
clear history of proper questionnaire development
process. If a researcher still intends to conduct a validation
study for that particular questionnaire, then it is necessary
for him/her to set up the appropriate reliability and
validity testing for that questionnaire. Some tips on
identifying which test to be used for validation and
reliability-testing of a questionnaire can be obtained by
referring to Table 3.1, Chapter 3. Nonetheless, it must be
borne in mind that prior to the actual validation study, it is
necessary for a researcher to conduct an initial phase of
assessment by performing a proper translation process and
then evaluating both the face validity and content validity
of its translated version, in order to determine whether or
not the subsequent validation study would be feasible and
worthwhile.
