Itcategorises scores into A (good), C (moderate), and E (poor). A score of A, indicating good oral hygiene,has a total PSI of %u22644. In April 2022, 74% of preschool children at Tadika Perpaduan Wakaf Tapai 1achieved a PSI score of A during a dental check-up. This study aims to improve the PSI score of A inpreschool children to 100%.KEY MEASURES FOR IMPROVEMENT:We used the percentage of PSI (A) among preschool children as our indicator. 100% is set as the standardbased on consensus.PROCESS OF GATHERING INFORMATION:A quality improvement study was conducted with all 19 preschool children at Tadika Perpaduan WakafTapai 1, starting in April 2022. PSI data were collected from Kad Rawatan Pergigian Kanak-kanakPrasekolah (LP-8). Parents received questionnaires about their knowledge, attitudes, and practicesregarding their children's oral health and diet. The intervention phase took place from May to August2022, with data collected in August 2022 to assess the outcomes.ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION:The contributing factors found were the wrong toothbrushing technique which is horizontal technique(32%) and unhealthy dietary intakes (86%).STRATEGIES FOR CHANGE:A dental exhibition day was held for parents and preschool children to learn about dental health. Theywatched a video, attended a talk, and received tips on effective toothbrushing techniques throughdemonstrations, including BEGIN (Latihan Memberus Gigi Berkesan). Parents also had individualconsultations about their children's oral health and diet.EFFECT OF CHANGE:Post-intervention, 95% of Tadika Perpaduan Wakaf Tapai 1 preschool children mastered the correctcircular toothbrushing technique while 92% of parents adopted healthy dietary habits. The percentage ofPSI (A) reached 100% within three months and remained steady for the following three months.THE NEXT STEP:The remedial measures will be expanded to the other selected preschools.
