Bulletin National Institutes of Health, Malaysia Vol 16 • 2020
The next morning, the team visited
National Institutes of Health (NIH),
the main research hub in Malaysia.
Following a short tour around the
area, it was proceeded with a bilateral
discussion on COVID-19 clinical trials,
vaccine trials, biomedical research,
artificial intelligence and mobile
applications, health system as well as
behavioural research done by both
Chinese experts and NIH researchers.
In line with the weekly live webinar
sessions organised by Institute for
Clinical Research, the team attended
a teleconference with general
practitioners and private hospital
doctors, comprising Malaysian Medical
Association (MMA) and Association of
Private Hospitals (APHM) members.
Clinical experience was shared from
both sides, and this webinar was
broadcasted live on various social
media platforms.
A dialogue with lecturers at University
of Malaya was conducted on the
24 April 2020, focusing mainly on
infectious diseases. This was followed
by a dialogue with Traditional
and Complementary Medicine
(T&CM) practitioners, which was
also broadcasted live on Facebook,
primarily discussing on T&CM options
for COVID-19.
It is hoped that both countries would
have gained valuable experience in
understanding the management of
COVID-19.
