SPECIAL EDITION: BATTLING COVID-19
COVID-19 RESEARCH COLLABORATION BETWEEN ICR, CRC NETWORK AND CLINICIANS
In Malaysia, the first case of COVID-19 was detected on 24 January 2020. Since then, Institute for Clinical Research (ICR)
started to engage with various stakeholders and parties in conducting COVID-19 related research.
As of 27 July 2020, ICR and its collaborators had submitted 61 COVID-19 related research proposals for ethics approval. Till
date, six of the studies have been published and there are another four awaiting for journal editors’ feedback. These projects
range from the fields of basic biomedical science to epidemiology and clinical research (i.e. diagnostic, etiology, predictive/
prognostic, therapeutic). Other than focusing on COVID-19 itself, ICR is also looking into collateral damage of COVID-19 on
our healthcare system.
