MALAYSIA (RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT)
DATUK DR HISHAMSHAH MOHD IBRAHIM
It is my greatest pleasure to welcome all participants to the 22nd NIH Scientific Conference for this three-day
virtual event. Although we are still battling our war against the COVID-19 pandemic, I am proud to see that
such a program is well-organised which shown that our resilience and determination is far stronger than the
adversity that we are facing.
This conference is highly significant. It provides a key platform to stimulate interactions and foster
collaborations between researchers, health care providers and various stakeholders both within and outside
the Ministry of Health. It is indeed one of the strategic mechanisms to disseminate research findings
particularly in the areas of biomedical, clinical and public health in Malaysia.
This year's conference is anchored on the theme "Heal, Innovate, Change and Improve for a Healthy Nation".
As we are in our second year living with this unprecedented pandemic, the theme clearly signifies our
endeavour to heal the nation in various aspects including healthcare sectors. The dissemination of up-to-
date findings by our researchers will hopefully help in identifying gaps and act as an impetus to stimulate
further research. Furthermore, it has been proven that evidence from research is vital in policy-making and
planning of new programs or strategies, which illustrates the importance of disseminating research findings
via scientific events, such as this conference.
To all participants, I wish everyone a productive conference. May this event inspire new ideas for research
and enhance collaboration from multidisciplinary health-related fields. We are after all, a nation working
together for a better health during this pandemic period.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the Organising Committee of the 22nd NIH Scientific Conference, the
chairpersons and the presenters for their commendable efforts in making this conference a success. My
sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks also go to the Directors of all NIH's institutions for contribution and
commitment towards the successful planning and organising of this conference.
Thank you.
.
