TAN SRI DATO` SERI DR. NOOR HISHAM ABDULLAH

I am grateful to the Almighty, Allah Subhanahu Wataala, for giving us the strength, health, and means of
gathering for the 22nd NIH Scientific Conference. “Heal, Innovate, Change and Improve for a Healthy Nation” is
appropriate and relevant to current health affairs, and is what many of us are hoping for.

We are living in challenging times. Moreover, the current COVID-19 pandemic continues to redefine daily
routines and habits in a significant manner. It is undeniable that these changes and disruptions may harm our
healthcare deliveries and system, as we adapt to new norms. This pandemic has made it evident that we need
to transform and improve. All in all, we need to re-strategize and develop a more resilient healthcare system.

Undoubtedly, the need for evidence-based decision-making has never been greater. The world around us is
changing and will only continue to do so at a rapid rate. The biggest challenge now is to ensure our research
findings to be relevant, pertinent, applicable, and deliverable to the researchers, as well as making a difference
to the layperson. Henceforth, this conference provides an excellent opportunity for all of us to share our
findings, evidence, exchange ideas, and experiences.

To move forward, we must accept past events as part of our history. We must learn and improve from our
mistakes, innovate new means of tackling the obstacles that lay ahead, and we must start making changes for a
brighter future. Change starts from within, it starts from each individual, by taking definitive action, no matter
          how minuscule it might be.

I pray to Allah Subhanahu Wataala that each person in the healthcare sector is endowed with the strength to
continue carrying out our tasks and responsibilities to the best of our abilities. I hope everyone here succeeded
in gaining valuable knowledge and experiences besides fruitful and insightful time through this conference.

          Thank you.
