CENTER FOR HEALTHCARE QUALITY RESEARCH (CHQR)
We are focussed on doing research, building
capacity and providing consultancy in the area of
quality and quality improvement in healthcare.
We have also been receiving the mandate as the
national coordinating body for the development
of the Quality Assurance-Improvement (QA-QI)
Programme in the MOH. One of our key roles is
providing national-level direction for quality in
health through updated policies and strategies.
For example, we conducted a study entitled
‘A Situational Analysis on Quality Healthcare
in Malaysia’ to inform the development of the
National Policy for Quality in Healthcare (NPQH).
What Next?
• NPQH is to be upheld by healthcare organizations beyond the MOH
• Utilizing wider innovative approaches for capacity building in quality improvement
• Incorporating Quality Improvement in Healthcare as a syllabus or module for graduate and post-
graduate courses in partnership with the university
CENTER FOR HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH (CHSR)
Health services research plays a crucial role in
improving the quality and access of healthcare
services in Malaysia. Ensuring access to healthcare
services is a top priority for us. In line with this,
we are evaluating the delivery of dental services
through a community-based approach in Negeri
Sembilan. By evaluating the implementation of
this approach, we can identify best practices and
areas for improvement. We are also collaborating
closely with the Centre for Health Quality Research
and Nursing Division to develop national quality
indicators for nursing services.
What Next?
• Development of effective, sustainable, and people-centered strategies for colorectal cancer screening
• Strengthening interventions and policies by leveraging a multifaceted research approach that employs
co-design, systems thinking, and integrated knowledge translation.
