6.2.2 Increasing Bed Capacity at PKRC
Given the increase in positive cases involving foreign workers in the country
as well as in preparation for mandatory screening for COVID-19 among
registered foreign workers that would be carried out by the Social Security
Organisation (SOCSO) 36-37 , the Malaysia government had acted swiftly to
increase the bed capacity by establishing more PKRCs. Those who tested
positive for the virus had been admitted to PKRC MAEPS 2.0 in Selangor and
PKRC Port Dickson Polytechnic in Negeri Sembilan 36-39 .
The Malaysian government reactivated PKRC MAPES 2.0 in phases. The first
phase of the centre began on 9th December 2020 with 650 capacity beds
