6.2 Health Sector Responses
6.2.1 Implementation of EMCO at Foreign Worker Accommodations
Following the sudden rise in COVID-19 positive cases detected by the MOH
Malaysia at the workers’ dormitories, NSC has decided to put the workers’
dormitories under EMCO based on the advice and risk assessment done by
the MOH 17,25,40-44 . Such measure allowed the healthcare team to carry out
targeted screening on workers and residents in the area as well as prevented
the spread of COVID-19 to nearby communities. As of 31st December 2020,
there were five factories or construction worker dormitories put under
EMCO 25,40-44 .
