Laboratory diagnostic/services

Allergy Unit

The Allergy Unit offered several allergy tests including the Total and Specific
Immunoglobulin (IgE) tests, Eosinophil Cationic Protein test and Tryptase test.
The unit also offered the Skin Prick Test, which was conducted during the Allergy
Clinic session at Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department in HKL. The workload for RESEARCH CENTRE (AIRC) ALLERGY AND IMMUNOLOGY
2021 is shown in the following table.

Autoimmune Unit

The Autoimmune Unit offered 18 laboratory tests related to autoimmune and
infectious diseases. The total number of tests conducted in 2021 was reduced
when compared with 2020 as seven tests were handed over to Ministry of
Health (MOH) hospitals for diagnostic tests in October 2021. The workload at the
Autoimmune Unit is shown in the following table.
