                  A welcoming ceremony for 2023 attendees of
                  the Diploma in Medical Microbiology (DMM)
                  and the Diploma in Applied Parasitology and
                  Entomology (DAP&E) was held on the 8th of
                  May 2023. It was organized by the South East
                  Asia  Ministry  of  Education  (SEAMEO)  Tropical
                  Medicine (Trop-Med), Institute for Medical
                  Research (IMR), Malaysia.
                  The DMM was initiated in Saigon, Vietnam,
                  and later transferred to the Philippines. In 1978,
                  the DMM course was handed to IMR, Malaysia.
                  Yearly, the DMM is conducted for a duration of 5
                  months. For 2023, the course will be held on the
                  8th of May 2023 until 12th of November 2023.
                  The course was designated to train Medical
                  Doctors, Scientists and other health personnel
                  in basic and advanced Medical Microbiology as
                  well as skills in conducting research, diagnostic
                  services, and approaches in control programmes.
                  The course aims to provide knowledge and
                  practical training on pathogens of major
                  significance  to  public  health  and  to  enable
                  participants to apply scientific approaches and
                  critical thinking to diagnose, prevent, and control
                  infectious diseases.  The course will facilitate and
                  strengthen institutional and national capabilities   Dr. Masita Arip, Dean of Diploma in Medical Microbiology (DMM) is
