Page 8 - MALAYSIA HEALTH SECTOR RESPONSE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC: HOPE DESPITE ADVERSITY
P. 8
PROGRESS TO SUCCESS
This year marks the second year we are in the
COVID-19 pandemic. The virus developed, mutated,
and persists, increasing its spread and threat to the
health of every person. Therefore, while the country
is moving towards recovery, we must continue to
practise diligence despite the relaxation of SOPs.
Cooperation from various levels of society is vital
so that the country can flatten the COVID-19 curve.
The rampant rise of cases seen is a massive
challenge to service delivery, bringing the health
capacity to a more critical stage and compounding
the delivery of public health services in general.
Thus, the public is encouraged to facilitate the
MOH by complying with the advice and SOPs set by
the government to break the COVID-19 chain in this
country. To help the country recover from this health crisis, each of us has an important
role to play.
At this current moment, efforts on implementation of the National COVID-19
Immunisation Programme (PICK) are ongoing. Multiple vaccination administration
centres (Pusat Pemberian Vaksin, PPV), have been opened, including mega PPVs, and
strategies such as walk-in vaccination and outreach programmes have also been rolled
out. The government is committed to ensuring that Malaysia will achieve herd immunity
concordance with the objective of the PICK.
