                  PKONTOSIL    IN  V.  VIVAX  MALARIA,
          Thirty-eight  cases  were  given  prontosil  controlled  bv  38
      cases  treated  with  quinine.  The  daily  response  is  shown  in
      Tables  III  and  IV,  the  figures  being  compared  ';rapbicallv  in
      Graphs  8  and  4.  Full  details  are  given  in  Appcndix^A.

          Prontosil  has  obviously  proved  inefficient  compared  with
      quinine;  15  cases  had  parasites  in  the  blood  and  two  cases  still
      showed  fever  at  the  end  of  the  course  of  treatment.  Quinine
      treatment  was  given  to  these  eases  and  the > fever  and  parasites
      rapidly  disappeared.

                  PRONTOSIL  IN  /'.  MALAUI.K  MALARIA.
          P.  malarice  malaria  was  uncommon  in  the  Kuala  Lumpur
      district  during  the  period  of  the  investigation,  and  only  eight
      cases  were  admitted  to  hospital.  All  were  given  prontosil  and
      the  response  is  shown  in  Table  \ .
