The sulphanilamide used was Prontosil album (BayerV s
grammes daily were given in two doses. The quinine was given
also twice daily, as a solution at a dosage of 2 grammes per loo
lbs. body weight. Both drugs were given for seven davs
PKONTOSTL IN /'. FALCIPARUM MALARIA.
Prontosil was given to 34 cases controlled by 30 eases
treated with quinine. The response to treatment was judged
by two criteria, disappearance of fever and of asexual parasites
from the peripheral blood. The responses day by day arc shown
in the following tables :

It will be seen that although prontosil abolishes the fever
