The OAHS was launched by the Minister of Health YB Khairy Jamaluddin on 16 July 2022 in the Community Hall of Kampung Sahom,
Kampar. The minister has emphasized universal health coverage in line with “No one left behind” slogan. He also mentioned that the findings
from this survey is important to revise the strategy for tackling the health issues among the Orang Asli community.

Actual Data Collection Phase
The OAHS data collection team started their journey on
20 September 2022. They were trained in a one-week
short course by the core research team in The Grand
Kampar Hotel Perak from 13 to 19 August 2022. Besides
teaching the data collector to understand the survey
questionnaires, the participants were also taught about
the Orang Asli cultural background and prohibited
words and behaviours. The field data collection was
monitored by the central coordinating team weekly.
Data was collected via tablet application system for
localities which internet access proceeded with the
online submission. A manual hardcopy questionnaire
was used in interior localities and the completed
questionnaire was posted to the central team. The
field data collection was completed as planned on 13
September 2022.
