#ENTERING THE ENDEMIC PHASE

          MOVING ADVISORS

          FOWARD

          Hello Readers!
It has been a while since we last met! We have dealt with the coronavirus
COVID-19 pandemic in these past two years. The pandemic has affected
numerous countries differently and was largely dependent on the resilience
of the healthcare system. In Malaysia, the public’s health, economics, and
social lifestyle were heavily impacted as well. It is a relief that our country has
made tremendous progress in strengthening capacities when responding to
health emergencies. A fast acting governance, supported by a multisectoral
and collaborative approach, as well as a robust national surveillance system
were among the crucial factors contributing to this success.

NIH has played a critical role from the start of the pandemic in providing
evidence-based research to support the policy makers in decision making. Advisor 1
Many procedures have been updated in line with the current needs and YBhg Datuk Dr. Hishamshah Mohd Ibrahim
situation. Our nation’s vaccination rate is now at 83.6% (as of June 2022) while
COVID-19 active cases have steadily decreased over time. After enduring
several phases of MCO, we are finally approaching the endemic phase. What
does that mean to us? We do believe that many of us would have personal
thoughts on this matter, and thus, we encourage personal sharing among
          the NIH family.

The transition to the endemic phase will remove many social mobility
restrictions. However, we must continue to observe our health. We need to
learn to live with the COVID-19 virus in conditions that are least disruptive
to daily lives by adhering to SOPs. In this volume, we are pleased to share
with the readers on our activities throughout the pandemic years and some
of the significant achievements among out NIH family. The pandemic did
not halt our efforts in conducting researches, trainings, and consultations to
support the policy makers in decision making. Do flip through to read more
on our ‘Majlis Anugerah Penyelidik’, an event to special recognise outstanding
researchers at NIH, NIH Frontliner Appreciation, NIH Vaccination Program,
and flood relief program for our family members who were affected by the
          severe flood last December.
There will be more to come from NIH and every step is a beginning to bigger
          achievements ahead.
                                                                                            Advisor 2
We will continue updating our research findings and our activities for the Dr. S Asmaliza Ismail
readers through NIH Bulletin and we truly appreciate your continuous
          support.
          Thank you!
