National Biobank Consortium Taskforce Meeting
The National Biobank Consortium Taskforce Meeting was held on the 28th of September 2020 at
the IMR Boardroom with members attending either virtually or physically. The meeting discussed
about the future direction and collaboration between biobanks from different institutions as well as the
possibility of forming a National Biobank. Dr Zubaidah Zakaria handed over the position of Chairman
of the Taskforce to Dr Tahir Aris.
World Cancer Day
A national level launch event was organised by the Malaysian Oncological Society in collaboration
with the Ministry of Health Malaysia and other societies on 4th February, 2020. During the event at KL
Sentral, a booth was set up by the Molecular Pathology Unit, CaRC, staff with other members of the
Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Society of Malaysia to increase the awareness of nasopharyngeal cancer.
The event emphasised on efforts that individuals can take to battle cancer and to remove the stigma
of the disease
