Infectious Diseases Research
Centre (IDRC)
The Infectious Diseases Research Centre (IDRC) carries out research, diagnostics,
consultation and training related to infectious diseases. The centre’s research focuses
on tuberculosis, leptospirosis, melioidosis, brucellosis, antimicrobial resistance,
tropical diseases and vector-borne diseases such as dengue, Zika and malaria. There
are five units under IDRC which are the Acarology, Bacteriology, Medical Entomology,
Parasitology and Virology Units.
OBJECTIVES

To promote and conduct quality infectious diseases
research (especially for emerging and re-emerging
infections) in solving the health problems of the
country

To provide consultative services to health providers,
managers and planners in the diagnosis, treatment,
Infectious Diseases Research Centre (IDRC) prevention and control of infectious diseases to
improve the health of the Malaysian population
