8. Summary
Scientific research is not merely about statistics alone. The research process itself shall be
an interplay between the scientific concepts, research methodology and biostatistics.
Hence, having been equipped with statistical knowledge alone will not be adequate for
becoming a competent biostatistician. Therefore, this e-book/book aims to provide a brief
guide for both the junior biostatisticians starting out as well as for the experienced
biostatisticians seeking to enhance their research consultation skills, particularly for
conducting a face-to-face consultation session. In addition, this e-book/book also describes
the relevant knowledge areas and core skills which a competent biostatistician should have
acquired in order for him/her to improve on his/her competency level and also to develop
a proper action plan to further strengthen his/her capabilities as a biostatistical consultant.
Besides that, this e-book/book has also shared a list of very useful tips that will enable a
biostatistician to further develop his/her competencies in the long-run and hopefully, such
tips will remain very useful for them to develop their lifelong profession, in their never-
ending pursuit for providing optimal research consultation.
