6. Tips to Enhance Research Consultation Skills
The ultimate aim of providing research consultation service is to solve research client’s
problem(s) about a new research proposal or in other words, to fulfil his/her expectations
for the preparation of a new research proposal. These expectations can be summarized by
a list of required skills in Table 1. Although it will not be possible to describe all these
required skills in detail because they come from many different branches of the various
subject areas, however they should still be acquired and developed gradually over time.
Nonetheless, some of these tips can be useful for enhancing a biostatisticians’ research
consultation skills.
