The 14 Ministry of Health-Academy of Medicine Malaysia (MOH-AMM) Scientific Meeting

2022 in conjunction with 23 National of Health (NIH) Scientific Conference was jointly
organized by the Academy of Medicine Malaysia (AMM) and the National Institutes of Health
(NIH) Malaysia with the Institute of Health Behavioural Research (IHBR) and the Institutes of
Systems Research (IHSR) leading the NIH committee alongside the Institute for Medical
Research (IMR), Institute for Public Health (IPH), Institute for Clinical Research (ICR), Institute
for Health Management (IHM) and the NIH Manager’s Office.
The objectives of the three-day event:
Induction of new members of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia
To provide a platform for researchers, clinicians, academicians, technical and industrial
players to interact, communicate and share knowledge, experience and best practices on
the many facets of health in managing the society at various levels through various
methods and technology.
To build networking and collaborations within and between MOH, Universities and others
towards better improvements of healthcare services and research.
To recommend solutions for managing public challenges to all stakeholders.

The event was held on July 19 to 21 2022 at the NIH Complex, Setia Alam, Selangor with
the theme NCDs Bridging the Gap. The event was officiated by the honorable Minister of
Health, Khairy Jamaluddin, while the keynote address by the Director General of Health, Tan
Sri Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah was delivered by the Deputy-Director General of Health
(Medical), Dato’ Dr. Asmayani Khalib.
The event comprises of two main events – the MOH-AMM Scientific Meeting and the NIH
Scientific Conference. The MOH-AMM Scientific Meeting held on the first day covers the

induction of new members into the Academy, the 16 Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Lecture by
Professor Dato’ Dr Kandasami Palayan and Academy meeting was held later on the same day.
The NIH Scientific Conference began in the afternoon of the first day through the third day
with six plenaries and nine symposiums – all delivered through the virtual platform. The topics
covered multiple facets of NCD ranging from medical, clinical, system, management and
behavioural across different settings and populations. More than 200 posters were presented
in this conference.
Renowned speakers from all over the world and locally graced the plenaries and symposiums.
Participants included clinicians, researchers, academicians from various backgrounds,
organizations and institutions who share common interest and dedication in safeguarding and
improving health of Malaysia.
