The Malaysian Stem Cell Registry (MSCR), was founded in 2000 as a joint project with the National
Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA). It serves as a directory of all registered stem cell donors in
Malaysia. The objectives of the registry are to identify, collect data and perform searches for
suitable potential donors for blood disorder patients in Malaysia. In 2020, eight campaigns were
conducted throughout the country. A total of 181 requests for donor search were received by
MSCR. In 2020, two peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) transplants were carried out. Currently
there are 34,243 registered stem cell donors and 18 compatible blood stem cell transplantations
were successfully performed among leukemic patients in Malaysia.
